2021, Journal of Clinical EpidemiologyCitation Excerpt :The method for publication bias incorporated into the diagma module is not P-value driven [43] but nevertheless depends on the variance of the study DOR and suffers from the same issues flagged by Begg when used for diagnostic meta-analyses. We support the recommendation by Begg of first examining the results for heterogeneity and then the reasons behind the heterogeneity as the preferred approach for making sense of the data [41]. In conclusion, our results suggest that the new SCS method represents an improvement in our approach to meta-analysis of diagnostic accuracy studies given that it is associated with a lower MSE and better coverage (despite a smaller width of the confidence interval) than is seen with the commonly used bivariate and related hierarchical models.
