Targeting intestinal inflammation with CD98 siRNA/PEI-loaded nanoparticles
2014, Molecular TherapyThe disintegrin-like and cysteine-rich domains of ADAM-9 mediate interactions between melanoma cells and fibroblasts
2011, Journal of Biological ChemistryCitation Excerpt :Adhesion of ADAMs to integrin receptors has been shown to result in cell-cell interactions as in the case of ADAM-15 (24) and ADAM-9. For ADAM-9 this leads to cellular fusion of monocytes and macrophages (25, 26). To determine whether ADAM-9 may function as a cell surface receptor mediating interactions of melanoma cells and fibroblasts, MV3 cells were labeled with the fluorochrome CMFDA and seeded on top of confluent fibroblast monolayers in the absence or presence of recombinant DC-9 (Fig. 4).
Characterization of pathogen-specific expression of host immune response genes in Anaplasma and Mycobacterium species infected ruminants
2010, Comparative Immunology, Microbiology and Infectious DiseasesCitation Excerpt :Herein, 9 of the 13 immune response genes characterized were differentially expressed in A. ovis-infected deer only, again highlighting pathogen-specific signatures and the effect of co-infection with multiple pathogens on red deer host immune response. Interestingly, the ADAM9 gene that was differentially expressed in A. ovis/M. bovis/MAP-infected deer and in A. marginale- and M. bovis-infected cattle has been shown to be involved in the formation of multicellular giant cells found during active infection with M. tuberculosis[56]. Other genes also upregulated in Mycobacterium and Anaplasma infected deer and cattle such as IL1B and CD80 have been suggested to play a role in the pathogenesis of mycobacterial infection [57] and in antigen-specific CD4(+) T-cell responses to A. marginale[58], respectively.
Generalized progressive retinal atrophy in the Irish Glen of Imaal Terrier is associated with a deletion in the ADAM9 gene
2010, Molecular and Cellular ProbesAccelerated wound repair in ADAM-9 knockout animals
2010, Journal of Investigative DermatologyCitation Excerpt :Previous studies have shown that activated CD4+T lymphocytes and lymphoma cells express ADAM-9 and -17 in vitro (Wolf et al., 2003). In addition, expression of ADAM-9 has been detected in circulating monocytes as well as in macrophages and shown to be involved in the formation of multinuclear giant cells in both bone and skin (Namba et al., 2001; Mackiewicz et al., 2005; Ma et al., 2006), thereby implying the putative involvement of ADAM-9 in inflammatory processes. Increased expression of ADAM-9 was observed in vivo during vessel repair following angioplasty (Ward et al., 2001) as well as during horse skin repair (Lefebvre-Lavoie et al., 2005).
