Models were adjusted for maternal age at enrolment, pre-pregnancy BMI, educational level, history of asthma or atopy, psychological distress during pregnancy, parity, smoking during pregnancy, and child’s sex, gestational age, birth weight, ethnicity, day care attendance, lower respiratory tract infections, passive smoking at 1 year, and age at the time of respiratory outcomes. The table displays the estimates of the indirect effect, the direct effect and the total effect (indirect+direct).
