There are now effective treatments for nicotine addiction and, in the UK, specialist services for the treatment of smoking cessation are becoming available in all areas. This paper reviews the role of treatments for nicotine addiction in the management of smoking cessation. Recommendations are made for the judicious use of these therapies and also for the rational use of the new UK smoking cessation services. ER -
