AB During a three-month period, 20 patients had one or more cardiac valves replaced with mounted autologous fascia lata valves. Only six remain alive. Insufficiency of the implanted valve and thromboembolic complications were frequent. Histological examination demonstrates degenerative changes in the fascia lata and explains the thromboembolic phenomena.
