Effects of ion channel inhibitors on inflammasome activation. Lung epithelial cells were infected with respiratory syncytial virus and cultured in the presence or absence of hexamethylene amiloride or amantadine or rimantadine or EIPA, or benzamil or verapamil for 12 h. Supernatants were collected and tested for IL1β and IL6 secretion using the CBA bead array system (BectonDickinson). Fluorescence was detected using a FACSCalibur (BectonDickinson) The data presented are the mean of three independent experiments.
