2023, Computers in Biology and MedicineBeclomethasone dipropionate and sodium cromoglycate protect against airway hyperresponsiveness in a human ex vivo model of cow's milk aspiration
2021, Current Research in Pharmacology and Drug DiscoveryCitation Excerpt :Although recurrent aspiration of CM has been shown to alter the neural control of bronchi in young rabbits (Cazzola et al., 2011), to date limited data are available concerning the detrimental effect of such condition in human airways. Children often suffer from both GER and asthma, however it is difficult to establish a causal relationship between CM aspiration, GER, and pulmonary sequelae (Orenstein and Orenstein, 1988). Considering the weakness of the current scientific background, the aim of this study was to investigate ex vivo the impact of CM aspiration on human ASM contractility and whether treatment with the inhaled corticosteroid (ICS) beclomethasone dipropionate (BDP) or the cromone sodium cromoglycate (SCG) may prevent the potential CM-induced AHR.
Anti-reflux surgery for controlling respiratory symptoms of gastro-esophageal reflux disease: A systematic review and meta-analysis
2021, Asian Journal of SurgeryCitation Excerpt :Chronic use of corticoids is similarly known to be associated with higher gastric reflux rates.8,9 Although anti-reflux surgery has been used with known efficiency for controlling GERD's typical symptoms, the lack of prospective trials and meta-analysis concerning the effectiveness of this procedure for controlling respiratory symptoms makes the therapeutic management of these patients controversial.1–4 Thus, this study aims to perform a systematic review and meta-analysis evaluating the efficacy of anti-reflux surgery for controlling respiratory symptoms related to GERD.
