    These data would suggest that conventional radiation techniques are inferior to surgical resection for local control of lung cancer. Data on the proportion of patients who received mediastinal irradiation were unavailable, but isolated relapse in the hilar/mediastinal lymph nodes is rare even in patients who do not receive radiation to those areas [12–15]. In contrast to conventional radiation, stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT) appears to provide much better local control.
