2023, Journal of EthnopharmacologyP38 MAPK is involved in human neutrophil chemotaxis induced by L-amino acid oxidase from Calloselasma rhodosthoma
2016, ToxiconCitation Excerpt :Cytokines are important mediators, and among the various cytokines, interleukin-6 (IL-6) and interleukin 8 (IL-8) are important mediators of inflammatory events. IL-6 is secreted by human neutrophils and has pro- and anti-inflammatory actions (Johnson et al., 1998). Among the IL-6 actions we can highlight their involvement in the initiation and maintenance of inflammation facilitating the trafficking of neutrophils to the inflammatory site and consequent stimulus to production of inflammatory mediators such as cytokines, prostaglandins, ROS and proteases (Fielding et al., 2008; Woodfin et al., 2010).
Plasma immune analytes in patients with epithelial ovarian cancer
2015, CytokineCitation Excerpt :IL-6 is released under several non-malignant conditions, including infection, trauma, and exercise [23–25]. IL-6 secretion leads to increased acute phase protein production [26], neutrophil function [27], and B cell proliferation and differentiation [28]. In EOC, increased plasma IL-6 levels have been associated with poor outcomes [29], and IL-6 has been shown to promote EOC cell survival [30] and angiogenesis [31].
