Abstract

Heartburn getting serious clinical attention. Gastroesophageal reflux disease, or GERD, can cause inflammation of the vocal cords or even cancer of the esophagus. But even the more prosaic symptoms should be enough to get clinicians to investigate these two new surgical interventions for heartburn.
