Nodular pseudotumoral pulmonary amyloidosis mimicking pulmonary carcinoma

    A 72 year old woman was admitted for a cholecystectomy. The preoperative chest radiograph revealed an incidental pulmonary density in the left upper lobe. Her medical history was non-contributory. She was a non-smoker and had neither pulmonary nor systemic symptoms. A CT scan showed a 5 cm diameter non-calcified mass in the left upper lobe (fig 1A).
