Association of α1-antichymotrypsin deficiency with milder lung disease in patients with cystic fibrosis

Table 4

Serum concentrations of α1-antichymotrypsin for the three different −15 α1-antichymotrypsin signal peptide genotypes Ala/Ala, Thr/Thr, and Ala/Thr

α1-antichymotrypsin concentration (g/l) Alanine
(GG)
Threonine
(AA)
Alanine/threonine (GA)
Observed mean (SD) 0.44 (0.26) 0.56 (0.26) 0.52 (0.25)
Adjusted mean (95% CI) 0.45 (0.38 to 0.52) 0.58 (0.46 to 0.70) 0.5 (0.42 to 0.57)
  • The adjusted mean refers to the level of α1-antichymotrypsin corrected for the inflammatory response in comparison with the level of α1-antitrypsin (see Methods). There was no difference in the levels of α1-antichymotrypsin between the three groups (p=0.184).
