Genetic susceptibility to tuberculosis in human populations

Table 1

Some candidate genes for susceptibility to tuberculosis

HLA Complement receptor 1
NRAMP1 ICAM 1
Tumour necrosis factor Fucosyltransferase 2
Mannose binding protein Inducible nitric oxide synthase
Vitamin D receptor Chemokine receptors
Interferon-γ receptor Interleukin 4
Interleukin 10 TH2 cluster
Interleukin 1α, 1β and RA Interleukin 6
  • The candidate genes listed all contain known polymorphisms. Many other genes could play a role in tuberculosis susceptibility and are worthy of investigation.
