Dear Editor, Lung cancer accounts for 1 in 3 cancer deaths and 25% of cancer registrations. Recognition that accurate and prompt diagnosis can help save lives has led to the formation of the multidisciplinary team (MDT), which consists primarily of chest physicians, thoracic surgeons, radiologists, pathologists, and oncologists, in the management of patients with lung cancer. A study was conducted to assess the effectiveness of the lung cancer MDT. Data were compared between the year 1997 and 2003 representing the pre- and post-MDT era respectively. Data are shown in Table 1. Establishment of the MDT has lead to significant improvements in lung cancer outcomes and is effective in managing patients with lung cancer. Table 1. Data for the year 1997 (pre-MDT) and 2003 (post-MDT).
